AnimadVersion
Although Animadversion did not 'officially' form until March of 2000, Benjamin Bacon and Jonathan Ford have worked together since Fall of 1996 as the musical guts of Dies Irae !US (DI). The band also featured vocalist Civitas Hall and keyboardist Jj Kidder. Although never escaping obscurity, DI received international critical acclaim for its album DOGMA, which was released independently in December of 1998. Five months later, the band reached its pinnacle performing at the 8. Wave Gotik Treffen mainstage in Leipzig, DE. This festival spanned three days in May and featured featured such notable acts as The Creatures, Project Pitchfork, and Diamanda Galas. Ironically, this would be DI's final performance.

Following the 'Treffen,' DI's ranks diminished by one half with the dismissal of vocalist Civitas Hall and later with the resignation of Jj Kidder. Set back but still determined, Benjamin and Jonathan set out to continue the project. As they began writing new material, it became clear that new directions were being explored. A fresh start became necessary and thus a new project was born: AnimadVersion. While not a complete departure from Dies Irae !US, AnimadVersion reflects the the band's personal growth in a musical environment that is unbound.
